Changing lottery numbers after purchase

Changing the numbers on a selection screen, editing a saved preference and altering a purchased entry are different actions. Start by finding the ticket or order reference and its status. A button that changes a Favourite does not, by itself, establish that an accepted ticket has changed.

Identify which numbers you want to change

Changing the numbers on a selection screen, editing a saved preference and altering a purchased entry are different actions. Start by finding the ticket or order reference and its status. A button that changes a Favourite does not, by itself, establish that an accepted ticket has changed.

This guide uses two scoped examples: number selection and Favourites in Australia's The Lott website and app, and the Malta National Lottery help centre's rule for a confirmed online lottery ticket. These examples do not establish an amendment right for another country, retailer or lottery intermediary.

This is an enquiry worksheet. It does not promise that the operator can modify, cancel or replace any particular entry.

Correct the selection before confirmation

The Lott's Play Pick help explains that the app's mini-game sends chosen numbers to a cart, where they can be reviewed before confirmation and checkout. Its listed games include Saturday Lotto, Oz Lotto, Powerball, Weekday Windfall and Set for Life. That describes a selection stage, not permission to rewrite a ticket after purchase.

Check the draw date as well as the combination. The Lott's website purchase guide distinguishes selecting entries, adding them to the cart, reviewing the cart and completing the purchase. It also explains that a draw is selected automatically and can be changed during selection.

A practical check is to read each line back before submitting, then compare the confirmation immediately afterwards. If a screen refreshes or a payment message is unclear, inspect the purchase record before buying again. A second purchase is not a safe way to find out whether the first one succeeded.

Editing a Favourite addresses future reuse

The Lott defines a Favourite as saved numbers for future use. Its separate editing guide describes managing those saved settings through the website, app or retailer. The documents describe a preference-management feature; they do not say that editing it rewrites an existing ticket.

Imagine that you purchased a Saturday entry using Favourite A and later changed A's numbers. Keep the purchased Saturday ticket and updated Favourite as separate records. Verify which combination appears when you make a later purchase. Do not use the current Favourite screen as proof of the earlier accepted combination.

If an automatic-play arrangement uses saved settings, check that arrangement's own effective-change instructions. This source review does not establish when a changed Favourite affects recurring purchases, nor whether previously purchased future draws can be amended. Ask about the specific purchase reference and first affected draw.

For a recurring-selection or repeated-purchase question, read our Lotto.pl review and Szerencsejáték review. Keep the instruction for future play separate from the entry already confirmed.

A confirmed ticket may be locked

The Malta National Lottery's confirmed-ticket FAQ states that numbers cannot be changed after confirmation and advises checking them beforehand. The page identifies its latest update as 27 October 2025. Apply that statement to the service and stage it describes; do not turn it into a rule for every retail ticket or another national lottery.

The fact that a draw has not happened yet does not establish an amendment window. A sales deadline describes when entries stop being accepted; it does not necessarily describe how an existing entry can be changed. Read the applicable game and channel rules for that separate question.

If you want a different combination after confirmation, first establish whether any permitted process exists. Do not cross out numbers on a physical ticket, overwrite a screenshot, or assume that a support request changes the recorded entry. Preserve the original while seeking a clear answer.

Report a discrepancy without assuming its cause

An accepted record that differs from your instruction calls for an investigation. “I selected 17, but the confirmation shows 27” is more useful than “change my numbers.” Include the game, draw, ticket reference, time and the two records you are comparing. State whether the problem concerns a purchase, a saved preference or a displayed result.

The Lott's ticket-history guide explains how purchased tickets can be found by their purchase month on the website or app. Use the actual historical entry rather than a newly edited template when checking the numbers.

Contact the lottery or operator through its verified channel promptly. Ask which record governs participation, how the discrepancy will be checked, and what action, if any, is available under the applicable rules. A reply about general ticket finality does not explain whether your two records match. Keep the reference and response without exposing ticket barcodes, passwords or payment details publicly.

For a selection-error request, our Interbet Numbers review separates the intended selection, any accepted record and the outcome of a later enquiry. Check the proposed purchase before committing, then identify the actual record if a discrepancy remains. Sending a request or receiving an acknowledgement does not show that the numbers changed.

Keep amendment, replacement and refund separate

Changing an accepted combination, voiding an entry, purchasing a replacement and returning money are separate outcomes. If support offers a process, ask which ticket and draw it affects and request its resulting status in writing. Do not assume that the first ticket vanished because you purchased another one.

Use refunds and order finality for the money question and missed entries and cancelled draws for an unfulfilled order. For an intermediary, first establish the product model: the official lottery's rules and another company's accepted contract can govern different records.
