Short answer
Match the company in your accepted account terms to the regulator's own record, then check the website, licence status, authorised activities and territorial scope. A familiar brand, company-registration number or copied licence logo does not complete that chain. If one link is unresolved, record the gap before considering a purchase.
WhiteLotto publishes this guide. This guide does not establish a licensing conclusion or eligibility for your market.
Build an identity chain
Begin on the exact domain you would use, including any regional subdomain. Save the URL and the account terms presented to a customer in your market. Find the full contracting name, company number where supplied, registered address and complaint contact. A payment processor, software supplier or brand owner can be a different business from the company accepting your entry.
Write the chain as four separate fields: website, contracting company, regulator record and permitted activity. Do not collapse them into a single “licensed” tick. A company register answers a corporate-identity question; a gambling regulator's record answers a different, scoped authorisation question. Neither checks that your particular order has been fulfilled.
Once the identity matches, check the market and product separately. The record does not establish your residence, location or claim eligibility.
For product classification, read official tickets versus lottery betting. That distinction helps identify the activity you need to investigate rather than assume every lottery-labelled product belongs to one category.
Use an evidence worksheet
| Field | Evidence to retain | Unresolved result |
|---|---|---|
| Contracting company | Accepted account terms naming the responsible entity | Brand alone is insufficient |
| Corporate identity | Relevant company-register record, where available | Registration claim remains unconfirmed |
| Regulator | Official regulator website reached independently | Logo or operator link alone is insufficient |
| Domain and trading name | Relevant entries in the regulator record | Ask which entity operates this address |
| Product and channel | Authorised activities and remote/non-remote scope | A different activity does not answer your question |
| Territory and dates | Applicable market, present status and activity dates | Do not extend the result to another market |
Record the date you actually checked, not the date a page was written. Keep your notes specific enough that someone else can repeat the check without relying on a screenshot of a badge.
What the Great Britain example shows
The Gambling Commission explains that its public register can be searched by legal name, trading name, domain or account number. Its fields distinguish current status and licensed activities. The register also warns that businesses supply trading-name and domain information, so a domain match is useful evidence rather than an independent guarantee of every submitted detail.
Its consumer licence guidance describes checking activities, domains, trading names and regulatory action. This is a Great Britain example. It does not establish how another jurisdiction licenses intermediaries, nor that a licence permits marketing or participation in every country.
This article does not assign a newly verified licence to LottoPark, theLotter or Lottoland. A procedure is different from completing the relevant operator-and-market investigation.
Which document version supplies the identity you are checking?
Keep the label on a terms link separate from the edition inside the document it returns. Before matching a company to a regulator record, establish which terms apply to the market, channel and purchase you intend. A search result or a recent page date cannot answer that question on its own.
The download page labels its internet-conditions link January 2026. Downloads
The returned PDF is marked August 2025. Document
These are observed labels on one linked publication path for LOTTO Thüringen. They do not establish the applicable final version or which edition a customer accepted. Later PDF clauses, including its effective-date provision, were not read in this bounded enquiry. We have not completed an operator-and-market licensing investigation or tested a purchase.
| Version question | Evidence to retain | Leave unresolved when |
|---|---|---|
| Link label | Exact page, link and label | The label does not identify the returned document clearly |
| Returned document | Its URL and displayed edition | A different date has no established explanation |
| Applicability | The version for the intended market, product and channel | A newer date is the only reason for choosing it |
| Contracting identity | The company named in the applicable terms | You have only a brand or an unidentified edition |
Imagine that Joan, an invented prospective customer, has saved a terms link and a document with a different edition label. She keeps both observations and asks the issuer to identify the applicable document before using its company name in a licence check. She does not silently relabel the file, conclude that a contract is invalid or treat a different date as proof of fraud. This is an enquiry method, not a finding about her account or the example provider's legal position.
Carry the clarified version into the identity chain above, then use the market and product checklist for the separate participation questions. Retain an unanswered version question as a gap; a licence logo cannot settle it.
Handle mismatches without guessing
A name difference can be a disclosed trading name, a regional company, an old document or an actual unresolved inconsistency. Ask the operator to identify the contracting entity and the exact official record covering that domain and product. Compare the answer with the regulator's site rather than treating support's assurance as final proof.
If a record is pending, suspended or outside the required activity, preserve that specific finding. If a search returns nothing, try the documented company and domain carefully, then leave the question unresolved. A failed search alone is not evidence of fraud; an unexplained gap is also not a licence confirmation.
Do not send identity documents to an unverified contact just to complete this research. Keep sensitive account details out of screenshots you share publicly.
Turn the research into a decision
Your final note should name the company, website, product, jurisdiction, source and check date, followed by what remains unknown. Avoid replacing that note with a universal trust score. Licence evidence does not prove a withdrawal outcome, protect every balance or eliminate gambling risk.
Then read the relevant operator profiles and claim procedure checklist. If the identity or scope needed for your decision remains unclear, postpone participation instead of assuming the most favourable answer.
