Is Lotterywest an official lottery service?
Lotterywest operates the official Western Australian lottery. Its Play Online website and app provide digital entries in its games, recorded in the customer's account. For an eligible WA resident, the practical questions are how that entry is confirmed, which wallet funds can be withdrawn and when a prize needs a separate claim.
The WA Government directory identifies Lotterywest and links to its official website. The reviewed membership contract names the Lotteries Commission, trading as Lotterywest. We checked public documents on 5 October 2026; we did not register, purchase or withdraw. WhiteLotto is commercially connected to LottoPark.
Who can open an account?
The membership page requires a Western Australian residential address, with PO boxes excluded. Identity verification checks the person's age and residence. The FAQ states the local minimum age as 16.
Residence and current location are separate conditions. The FAQ says a WA resident travelling interstate or overseas must check whether the law where they are located permits the transaction. This does not establish worldwide availability for visitors to the website. For someone without WA residency, this online account is outside the documented scope.
The membership page identifies 23 April 2026 as the latest amendment date, matching the linked PDF. This profile focuses on Lotterywest Play Online and its own app. The contract also covers the separate oz.lotterywest.com channel; its additional platform conditions should not be substituted for those of the direct account.
What proves that you entered the draw?
The FAQ says online purchases are virtual tickets. There is no courier-held paper original to request for an ordinary digital purchase. Under clause 20.8 of the contract, the purchase must be confirmed and visible as a valid entry in the account.
Check the game, selected numbers, draw and entry status together. An account debit on its own does not answer whether you joined the intended draw. This is especially relevant after a dropped connection near the deadline. Our ticket-evidence guide explains why valid participation evidence can take different forms.
The FAQ also says direct online and in-store tickets have the same price. That is a statement about those Lotterywest channels, not a price comparison with every Australian reseller. We have not recorded a matched checkout basket or payment-provider charges.
Deposits and winnings do not share one withdrawal rule
The April 2026 terms distinguish these balances for the direct Lotterywest platform:
| Source of funds | Treatment described in the contract |
|---|---|
| Winnings and BPAY deposits | Withdrawable balance |
| Visa/Mastercard credit or debit deposits; PayPal | Non-withdrawable balance; contact Customer Services for a refund through the original method |
For normal withdrawals, clause 30.1 specifies an A$10 minimum and up to three working days for transfer. Account closure allows withdrawal of the full eligible balance. Those are published conditions, not timings observed in a test.
For example, an account showing A$20 of card deposits and A$15 of winnings does not establish A$35 available through the ordinary withdrawal control. Keep each component identifiable and ask about the refund route for the deposit. These figures illustrate the distinction; they are not a live account. See our balance guide.
Which prizes require a separate claim?
The prize-collection page distinguishes physical tickets from online entries. The A$500 retailer threshold belongs to physical-ticket claims. For online and app purchases, it describes payment to the wallet or nominated financial account, excluding Division 1.
All Division 1 prizes require a claim at Lotterywest Head Office during office hours and a 14-day validation period. The page gives a 12-month claim period from the draw date; Scratch'n'Win expiry follows separate game information. A printout of a digital entry is a record for the claim process, not a substitute for identity checks.
There is one unresolved high-value qualification. The Customer Commitments page also excludes prizes above A$100,000 from automatic payment, whereas clause 21.1 of the membership contract lists Division 1 as the exception for digital prizes. For a large non-Division 1 win, confirm the required route directly before relying on automatic credit.
The claiming-winnings guide helps separate confirmation of a win, validation and bank arrival. An official account does not make those events simultaneous.
When is Lotterywest a useful comparison?
Lotterywest is a relevant reference for eligible WA residents evaluating official Australian lottery entries. Its defining features here are account-recorded digital participation, payment-method-dependent wallet rules and a separate Division 1 claim process.
If comparing it with Oz Lotteries, first identify the exact platform, jurisdiction, game and basket. The service-model guide covers the wider categories; this profile adds the direct account conditions. Current checkout fees, actual processing times and the high-value payment qualification remain untested or unresolved. No price-winner or payout-reliability score follows from this review.
